Free IPv6 Tunnel

Here are some of the most common resources for setting up and maintaining your own webserver. You will find resources that I have found to be useful to many of my colocation customers. Be sure to let me know if you have any questions or if there is something you have found useful that you would like to share with others. Send me an email at ashaver@he.net

Setting up ipv6 tunnels on ipv6tb.he.net with BSD flavored systems.

IPv6

New Free IPv6 tunneling service offered through Hurricane Electric

As some of you know, Hurricane Electric now offers IPv6 Internet connectivity.

IPv6 is the next generation Internet protocol which will eventually replace the current protocol IPv4. IPv6 at this point is still in the early adopter (which we are) phase. IPv4 will coexist with IPv6 on the Internet in upcomming years.

There are two ways to get an IPv6 connectivity:

  • 1) Native IPv6
  • 2) IPv6 over a tunnel via existing IPv4

Native requires you to pay for a IPv6 specific port.

Alternatively, anybody can get an IPv6 tunnel from us at no charge by going to http://ipv6tb.he.net

If your application is high bandwidth then you probably should get a native connection. If you are developing devices which will speak native IPv6 and want to test it in a production environment then you should get a native connection. If you are intrested in getting an native IPv6 service send me an email to Anna Shaver ashaver@he.net or I can be reached by phone at 510-580-4194. Otherwise, tunnelling would work fine for IPv6 development.

IPv6 support is available for most platforms (Linux, Windows, Solaris, etc).

One site you can learn more about IPv6 at is http://hs247.com
